Do this first
Fast checklist
- 01
Update the game before you search.
- 02
Open content that currently displays multiplayer support.
- 03
Choose Quick Entry when the live interface offers it.
- 04
Do not follow older Wide-setting instructions; Lobby Search Range was removed in 1.0.11.
- 05
Resolve any higher-version or leader-version warning before retrying.
- 06
Make a fresh search if the previous lobby stalls.
What public matchmaking means here
The official wording we can verify is Online Co-op, multiplayer lobbies, and Quick Entry. That supports a public-search guide, but it is not evidence that every mission or campaign step can be matched with strangers.
Use the activity's current multiplayer marker and lobby screen as the final check. Those screens can change after a patch.
When nobody appears
A quiet search is not proof that matchmaking is broken. Current lobbies use fastest-response search, but that cannot create a compatible open lobby. Resolve any version warning, try the same supported activity again after remaking the search, or use a direct friend lobby to separate a queue-population problem from a party-entry problem.
Quick answers
FAQ
Can I match with random players?
Quick Entry and multiplayer lobbies are officially referenced. Use Quick Entry in an activity that currently displays multiplayer support, but do not assume every activity has a public queue.
Why is the public queue empty?
Official sources do not guarantee player population. Check your version, resolve any warning, and retry a fresh lobby before treating it as a fault; the old Wide setting was removed in 1.0.11.
